Phenometron is a hard-rock band based out of the Detroit, MI. They are dedicated to revive that long lost sound of good ol’ rock-n-roll; bringing the influences of bands such as AC/DC, Judas Priest, and Mötley Crüe together in one band. Playing live since 2008, Phenometron has been proving itself in the Detroit music scene for the last four years. They appear to be in the wrong decade, but try as they might to go back, it’s still the 2000s and they’re going to continue to rock.
Phenometron currently boasts four members each with their own musical backgrounds. Front-man and lead guitarist Patrick Joyce brings on the blues-rock drive, while drummer Eric Seeley plays a more classic 60’s/70’s style of rock rhythm. Hailing from the darkest depths of the metal-verse, the indefatigable rhythm guitarist Matthew “Griff” Griffin brings his fast paced sweeps and a much more technical influence. Last but definitely not least, is the funk-rock styling of bassist Alan “Alan” Mickiewicz who pops and grooves with the music, adding that extra kick to an already hot sound.
Patrick and Eric started jamming together in 2004 with nothing but a 15 watt practice amp, two second hand snare drums, a discounted crash cymbal, and a dream to get good enough to merit buying real equipment. Once they achieved the real equipment, they added guitarist Mike Kaminski and bassist Daniel Joyce, Patrick’s younger brother, to form the makings of a band in early 2008. Within a few months, the lineup changed the first time when Adam Grabowski took over the bass.
For a year Phenometron played a few shows, but other opportunities presented themselves to most members. Mike left in early 2009 and they became a three piece until Warren “Yeti” Martin joined on bass and Adam moved to guitar; until fall that year and he moved away to Indiana. The once again three-piece band continued to crank out tunes, rock out shows, and record their first EP album in 2010. A few months after their studio time, Phenometron shot their first music video for their raucous song "Let's Start a Riot." Shortly after the shoot, they found themselves craving that fuller rock-n-roll sound, so Phenometron added Matt on guitar. Adam, who was at school for sound engineering, then recorded their first full album. The line-up changed again in 2011 as Yeti moved to a power-metal group and become a local firearms dealer. Phenometron then added their long time friend Alan on bass.
Phenometron continues to move up and on, shocking audiences with their hard-rock style, exhuming intense energy on every stage they play on, and drawing people back in time. Phenometron will not stop until they’ve revived the lost art of rock-n-roll. They’re motto is, “If your fist ain't pumpin’ and your head ain't bangin', you must be listening to someone else!” Phenometron: the sexiest rock machine you've ever heard.
