Self taught since the age of 9, the guitar has always been my greatest escape! an intense emotional rollercoaster of self discovery! A grand adventure into the wild world of music! From Zep to Sabbath to Dave Matthews and The Blues Travelers, from Stevie Ray Vaughn and The Allman Brothers to Jimi and Bob, classic rock and the blues are the foundation of my musical roots and thanks to my Dad, Mom, my big brother Mick, and even my big sis Mel, i have a well rounded taste for all things music! Whether its on stage with my strat or at a showcase or restaurant with my classical guitar, I simply love to play!
StratticusMatticus is scientific for "A guy named Matt who plays the Fender Strat!". I've been called Stratt Matt for as long as i can remember, so I added the greek twist and it just stuck! I'm from a small town called Royersford AKA "Rofo". Just an hour west of Philadelphia, PA. A Fender Strat is all I've ever owned since 1990 when i traded my first guitar, a purple haze Ibanez Roadstar 2, for the one i still have today! I will always cherish my all maple Custom Deluxe American Fender stratocaster!
I just moved back from PA where I was playing with my cousins and friends in our hometown project The KIND!
Mark, Dave, Mike, Dan, and Bruce rock it! Playing local spots like Toms Bar, Chaplins, and the Spring City Hotel! We made it to the Finals in DaVincis Battle of the Bands! In FL, I was a July 2010 featured artist at the Broward Center for the Performing Arts, Abdo Room, Put on by Chrystal
Hartigan. I also played the bar and club circuit in South FL for years, places like Kahunas, American Rock Bar, and the Elbow Room! Also playing Eco Fest 09' with my old band None the Less and charitable events like Surfers for Autism with Billy G!
The band I was in is called The KIND and is made up of mostly my cousins and our now newly found bass player, Dan Moyer, from Norristown. He's the youngest and newest member of the KIND! Reliable, knowlegable, and loves to play the bass.
Our drummer and my 2nd cousin, Mark kessler on the Ludwigs is from Pheonixville.I've known this guy my whole life. his mother is my God Mother! He'll suprise and defen your ears!
Dave Mennig, my 1st cousin on my Mom's side, just moved back from AZ and is on Lead Vocals. Traveled across the country with his family to make a new start. Plenty of power and heart!
Last, but not least is our second guitar slinger, Mike Gross. Backing vocals, lead, and rythym. We grew up with him on the same street and distant cousins by marriage! He was best friends with my older brother, Mickey (R.I.P.).
Together we made the KIND.
Its like a family get together every time we play!
