Lead Vocals/Bass - Charlie Wood - grew up in Monroe, LA in a musical family surrounded by all styles and types of music. I have been writing and performing my own songs since high school.
My most supportive, dedicated fan, my wife Fran, started sending in my music and lyrics to various publishers while I was working on a pipeline. We got a heck of a lot of “no’s, and it’s good, but not what we are looking for”. Out of desperation, and doubts and do I really have what it takes to be a songwriter, I poured my heart in a letter to an artist that I admired and who’s career I have followed through the years; an old’ Louisiana boy Joe Stampley. Then one Saturday morning, around 10am, he called! I thought it was my friends playing a joke! But quickly realized I was talking with Joe Stampley! We struck up a friendship, and that got the ball rolling. He gave me the best advice that anyone has ever given me about the music business. He said his dad told him when he was young “if you throw enough spit balls against the wall, one will eventually stick”. I started “pitching” away! We moved to Nashville in 2009. Joe Stampley played a major roll in my move. He is a good friend and still gives me advice to this day.
I also meet Chris Nole, musician/producer/ singer/songwriter, who has penned and produced songs for Faith Hill and many more. and also produced my 11 song CD titled “Keepin It Real”; all Charlie Wood originals, on Groove Gator Productions. CD is currently being played on radio. This CD is a mix of rhythm and blues, rock, and a soul feel with southern boy style. I also write w/Chris Nole, Jack Pearson(ex-Allman Brother), James Breedwell(has a hit w/Jackie Evancho). CD and songs are now available on my website: www.charliewoodmusic.com and through iTunes, CD Baby, Amazon, and Rhapsody. The Swamp Gang Revue Band, and I are signed with the Galaxie Agency and upcoming play dates can be found on my website.
