NEW EMPIRE / Bio

Australia’s New Empire return with third LP, In A Breath, due for release this September/January; Touring Australia nationally this October

Golightly Media in conjunction with Fata Booking are excited to announce that Australian rockers, New Empire, will release their greatly anticipated third studio LP this coming September/January.

Since their formation in their beachside hometown of Cronulla, New Empire have set hearts on fire and brought audiences to life with their explosive brand of stadium-ready indie rock. Comprised of schoolmates Jeremy Fowler, Kyle Lane and Kale Kneale, and new permanent addition, Nate Cairns, the electric four piece elevate themselves amongst their peers, penning anthems bursting with a refreshing sense of emotiveness and social conscious. Idling comfortably between the emphatic anthems of The Killers and the uninhibited honesty of rock greats like Snow Patrol, New Empire captures the voice of a modern generation that is impossible to ignore.

In A Breath follows their 2011 release, Symmetry, which garnered attention on a global scale, receiving praise from the likes of To Write Love On Her Arms, Baeble, MTV Buzzworthy, AOL, Kill Your Stereo, Smack Guide, Bop and Tigerbeat, ArtistDirect, Pure Volume and Channel V, not to mention a summer spent on The Vans Warped tour. The album resonated with fans in Australia, debuting in the Top 40 ARIA charts, as well as a Top 20 ARIA placement for single, “One Heart/A Million Voices,” and earned the band support slots with the likes of Owl City, Neon Trees, Good Charlotte and Simple Plan.

Their latest effort is a natural step forward for the band, who are set to release In A Breath in Australia/America this October/January. The first single off the release, and album stand out, “Say It Like You Mean It,” showcases the band’s new found vintage influences using synths reminiscent of The Cure, potently combined with resonating 707 drums, and sets the pace for what’s to follow on the album. Principal songwriter, Jeremy Fowler describes the meaning behind the track: “I have found emptiness in shallow cliques and self-idolization and I have found a deep desire for purpose, adventure and wisdom. This song is about finding our way home.”

From the opening moments on In A Breath, the band’s expansive songwriting continue to captivate, taking us through a persistent journey, from the intimate moments heard on, “The Sun Won’t Sleep,” to the infectious and resounding, “Relight The Fire,” right until the final, almost haunting melody on album closer, “Outshine The Brightest.”

When describing the track, “Fallen Soldiers,” Jeremy mentions, “trials come in many forms and often can beat us to the ground, but there needs to be a choice to stand up again. What doesn’t kill us, only makes us stronger.” In a sense, this encapsulates the recurring message on In A Breath. Even in the darker moments on the album, as most perfectly heard on title track, “In A Breath,” the four piece still consciously weave themes of hope and affirmation into the album, and shine a refreshing light on modern rock.
