Dan Moulder is a keyboardist, singer, songwriter, percussionist, and producer who has gained notoriety by working with a diverse and extensive collective of artists spanning a multitude of genres.
He can currently be found performing/recording with the constantly-evolving critically acclaimed artist Tom Schraeder & His Ego, as well as with Deanna Devore, a transplant from Toronto whose well-crafted, high-energy electro-pop songs exude jazz sensibilities inherited from sources well beyond her (y)ears. He is also a fixture in the uniquely original Chicago-based Grateful Dead cover band CAUTION.
Along with Tom Schraeder and Matthew Nurse, Moulder recently joined forces with the South-Side hip-hop powerhouse known as NATUREAL. The supergroup has been recording a groundbreaking genre-defying concept album about the de-facto segregation inherent in the City of Chicago.
From 2000-2005, Moulder was a member of the critically-acclaimed indie/jazz/rock quartet (and sometimes quintet) free space. The group's 2004 debut LP, "Move," was heralded as "polished as hell, and in just the right proportion...nailing that elusive mix of indie sensibility and the distilled Americana of jambands." (Jesse Jarnow, Relix)
After touring extensively throughout the Midwest and Northeast, performing at venues such as the House of Blues (Chicago), The Newport Music Hall (Columbus), and The Lion's Den (now "Sullivan Hall" in NYC), free space disbanded in October 2005.
Moulder kept a relatively low profile for the next two years, working behind the scenes in the music industry as a Talent Buyer and Promoter for various venues, and popping up as a special guest for recordings and performances for a variety of Chicago artists.
In the summer of 2007, Moulder burst back onto the scene with two bands that had already made their mark on the Chicago indie-rock scene, namely Cracklin Moth and Moxie Motive. Performances with both groups at such highly respected venues as the Empty Bottle and Metro instantaneously re-established Moulder as one of the most sought after rock keyboardists in the city.
