Jim Painter (James Painter) Born 1970 is a British musician, singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist. Jim’s music has changed styles through the years, starting with Heavy Rock in the late 80’s through Indie, Psychedelic, Funk and Folk. Starting with bands in the local Farnborough music scene and gathering influences from David Bowie, Beck, Led Zeppelin, Talking Heads and Neil Young he has dev...eloped an original sound. Jim has been playing guitar and writing lyrics from an early age and is now playing Acoustic Rock with hints of 70’s analogue synths. His songs can be about personal experiences or criticisms on the world we live in. “Well where do i start…Since I was a wee babe I was entranced by music it was played all the time where I grew up with 2 older bothers and a Sister back in the 70’s which has had quite an effect on me. By my early teens I started playing my older brother’s guitar while he was out. And after a time I learned to play songs that I heard on the radio and just wouldn’t stop playing. So I had to go out and get a job so I could buy my own. Over the years I’ve been in many bands of varying styles from Funk to Metal to Psychedelic to Indie to Folk. I always been interested in song writing, and have been for over 20 years now which seems a long long time but I did start early. I’ve been trying lately to re-record all my best songs as a document of what I’ve written over the years and this is where I’m at today, so people/friends can finally hear what I’ve been playing over the years.
