Sapphire Monet is a Funk Rock singer, coming out of Brooklyn, New York, who is currently an independent artist with a local cult following and five singles available, internationally in online music stores. She has an incredible voice and has the amazing gift of adapting to different genres of music. Sapphire Monet brings a different dynamic to the music industry that isn’t commonly seen and sets her apart from other vocalists. Her inspirations include Jimi Hendrix, Chaka Khan, Ndegecello, Nina Simone, Marvin Gaye, Tina Turner, Aretha Franklin, D’Angelo, Mary Jane Girls, Millie Jackson, Prince, Earth Wind And Fire, Al Green, Erykah Badu, James Brown and last but not least Michael Jackson. Sapphire Monet’s vocal talents are most compared to as a female R Kelly.
Sapphire Monet, a native New Yorker, was born and raised in the Bedford Stuyvesant area in Brooklyn, New York. The funky sassy, outspoken songstress comes from a family that is filled with musicians, singers and writers; music has always been apart of Sapphire’s life. At the age of 2, this soulful singer, with such a strong voice discovered her gift and love for singing in Church and also in her school’s Glee Club. Realizing that her love for music was just a piece of her overall love for performance and the arts, Sapphire also participated in and excelled in dance, swimming, and acting. While she has a special place in her heart for all of these creative outlets, music has always been her true passion. At 7 years old, Sapphire began to hone her skills by learning to read music and making singing her focus.
Sapphire Monet was raised by her mom, who during her youth was a single parent. Experiencing the challenges that come with this in life, writing became her escape from reality. She began writing poetry at 13 years of age and at this time writing was all that she did. Connecting her writing with music, Sapphire discovered a freedom and liberty within self-expression. At this point she decided to share her creations with the world. Sapphire has been blessed with the opportunity traveled around the world and had performed at several notable venues, including the historical Carnegie Hall for The McDonalds Gospel Fest with her school’s Glee Club.
By the time Sapphire Monet turned 21 she was sure that music would be her career choice. She performed around the Tri State area singing at open mic, showcases, and tons of community events. While traveling Sapphire began learning different styles and genres of music to expand her knowledge and appreciation for music as an art form. She also began vocal training to build skill in addition to her talent.
Constantly inspired Sapphire's passion for live music blossomed. She put her band together and began to define her destiny!! She has learned sign language, Spanish, French and speaks Italian. Her journey has just begun and she plans to ride this high, all the way to the stars & beyond, the only way most of that can happen is with your support and love. Stepping on faith Sapphire moved to LA alone – for music because she believes in herself and believes her music will reach millions, she is determined to share her music and love for music with the world!!
