Eric has been active in the Valley music scene for many years. He is currently appearing solo at venues throughout the Valley and as a member of Scatfish, a blues/roots/americana trio. He is a founding member of the seminal late 70's Alt-Folk-Swamp-Country-Rock-Southern-Blues-Boogie Band Spiny Norman, when such music genre-blending was not the norm. Other incarnations equally not well known are the mid 1980's HIgh Falls and the 90's not:quite:norman. Sadly, few recordings exist of these passionate but ill-timed time endeavors.
His idiosyncratic music draws from such wide-ranging stylists as Bruce Cockburn, Jackson Browne, Ry Cooder, David Lindley,Taj Mahal, Joni Mitchell, John Hiatt, Lowell George, Jerry Garcia, Miles Davis and John Coltrane, and is never bound by its original sources. Currently he's appearing in a couple iterations - as a Solo Acoustic artist, and with Scatfish, a blues and roots rock trio. Solo shows are a bit of a grab bag - you might hear Pink Floyd followed by Townes Van Zandt followed by Dave Matthews. Scatfish shows tend to be more blues-infused, with a liberal splash of jam band.
With an extensive and varied songlist, covering country, rock, americana, folk and blues, along with his original compositions, Eric is comfortable in any musical environment that doesn't involve a chickenwire cage.
