About the Artist
Andy Spain doesn't care if you think he sounds like Radiohead, or reminds you of the Flaming Lips because they both have a song about robots. He's just doing his thing.
What is that thing? It's a weird combination of music and concept, it's food for those who love good lyrics, and manna for those who crave the unique. It's an old song you've never heard before, about a future that's yet to come.
Like most songwriters, the acoustic guitar is his thing, but churning inside him is conflict between the clear country tones he loves and the urge to crack soundwaves with manic vibrations. So, occasionally, he takes to the stage with an electric guitar. And occasionally, he takes to the stage with a cheap organ fed through a mess o' pedals that transforms it into a strange distorted beast, and occasionally he tempts the evil wiles of technology to do his bidding in other ways.
The words he sings are made from old stock, world-weary with an eye toward a future that might just get out of hand, with his heart duct taped to his sleeve. He sings songs about relationships through the prism of modern isolation brought on by a planet that spins too fast. He sings about things like war and truth and humanity, and he sings about love.
He sings real high notes sometimes. Other times he almost does.
The important thing is, Andy wants you to listen to the music, think about the words, and let the whole experience penetrate your hard candy shell. So he puts a lot into his songs, and his shows. Come hear him live, and download his music. That's the only way to know what Andy Spain is all about.
