Sandia (Pronounced "san-dee-ah".) is an Artist, Dj, producer, writer, ranter & raver, creator and an advocate of spreading Positive Vibes & Culture. She makes herself known for her creative skills on the turntables as well as her audio production skills. Sandia experiments her musical tastes in Reggae and Dancehall tunes to soulful jazzy House to Electro-funky dub vibes from East coast to West. Dj Sandia - also known as "Sand Storm" is one the most versatile DJs on the scene. She promotes a positive cultural creative environment and is comfortable spinning a selection of: Dance/Party Anthems, Dancehall, Electro, House Hip Hop, Old School, Reggae, Funk, Soul, DnB and mainstream Top 40.
Originally from Manhattan, New York, she has traveled far to get such an amazing archive of tunes and musical experience. Since Art and Music are an essential part of Sandia's life it has definitely enriched her spirit to become the strong, creative, motivated individual that she is today. It was in Chicago of 2001 where her interest in djing began. After nightly performances at the Ethiopian Cafe, a place of mixed cultures, rhythms and underground artists held an Open Mic every Thursday night, her love for music stemmed further from her Dad's taste in Classical and Opera, banging on pots and pans, keyboards and Mom's old Reggae records.
Sandia spins and scratches anything and everything ranging from House, Hip-hop to Jazz, Rock to Reggae, House, Drum and Bass, Jungle, Salsa and other lounge-type eclectic styles of music. Her djing experiences has expanded from open mic shows and house parties to small venues and a few online college radio stations at UIC, Depaul, Long Island University and HotTalkLA. It was her love for culture and creating a positive message that brought her into the world of music. Her cultural background definitely shines through life's experiences expressed through the music to bring people together.
Her taste of music has essentially been eclectic, whether her mixes are blended, scratched, cut or produced. Sandia has so far has experienced organizing and hosting events such as open mic shows for artists and musicians, and hopes to maintain her success through the love of Art and Music.
She has djed for various clubs and lounges in Chicago, Philly, NYC, LA and VA. She has even played for Television celebs like Montel Williams and a few others. She currently works as a Dj for Beamz Interactive as well as the Zulu Nation as she builds her path to becoming a successful individual while keeping heads nodding and people on the dance floor. Meanwhile, she continues sharpening her turntable skills, attending cultural events and the underground scenes while shopping rare record shops in the concrete jungles of NYC, Chicago, LA and Miami.....to be cont'd.
