Lexy Greenwell (a.k.a. LexyBeatMusic) is an up-and-coming singer-songwriter and YouTube artist. A multi-faceted musician, Lexy has covered numerous genres of music including rap, country, pop and acapella. Her unique musical blend translates seamlessly to her songwriting, creating a distinctive and catchy indie-pop/blues sound. She is releasing her debut EP of original music later this year.
Lexy grew up in the suburbs of Boston, MA and Denver, CO. She began singing and creating early on, and her impeccable ear was discovered at just five years old when she heard a song on the radio and immediately played it note for note on the piano. Ever since, she has strived to hone her craft by broadening her musical spectrum. She began performing with Broadway and Off-Broadway talent at various theaters across the East Coast. She soon picked up a pair of drumsticks and an acoustic guitar, and has now built a repertoire of over ten instruments. Her influences span across genres and include Michael Jackson, Tracy Chapman, James Taylor, Macklemore, John Mayer, Kenney Chesney, Mumford and Sons, Kristen Chenoweth, and Stevie Wonder. She has also become an extraordinary producer, lecturing at college-level Electronic Music classes and creating everything on her YouTube channel from start to finish herself.
In February of 2013, Lexy was asked to perform with sixteen-time Grammy winner David Foster at Celebrity Fight Night in front of many A-list stars, including Reba McEntire, Muhammad Ali, “Soul Man” Sam Moore, the cast of True Blood, Rita Wilson, Billy Ray Cyrus, American Idol Finalist Hailey Reinhart, X Factor Winner Tate Stevens, sports superstars Kurt Warner and Evander Holyfield, and many more. Her emotional performance received a standing ovation.
As a songwriter of country, rap and indie-pop, Lexy has attracted the attention of the Nashville Songwriters Association International and the Colorado Music Business Organization. In 2010 she won a country music singer-songwriter competition that landed her a spot as one of the opening acts for superstar Wynonna Judd. She has played at numerous festivals in front of thousands of people, including the Olathe Sweet Corn Festival, Bobstock Music Festival, Parker Music Festival and many more.
On her YouTube channel LexyBeatMusic she has garnered over 220,000 views. Her most popular uploads are her rap covers of “Good Feeling” by Flo Rida and “Can’t Hold Us” by Macklemore. Both showcase her crisp, rapid-fire delivery, and “Can’t Hold Us” also demonstrates her vocal percussion skills and creativity, as the entire song is made from her mouth, stomps and a Starbucks mug.
Over the years, Lexy has melded her vastly diverse musical experiences into an entirely unique sound that elicits her emotional yet catchy songwriting. Her story-telling ability sets her apart, and her refreshingly honest lyrics speak about life, love and everything in between. She is currently working on her debut EP of original music due out later this year. And if her musical past shows any indication of her future to come, Lexy is the next superstar in the making. As she aptly puts it, “I don’t want people to just passively hear my music. I want them to listen and feel as though they’ve been transported into the story I’m trying to tell.”
