Jeremiah Yusef of Cleveland, Ohio boasts a history rich in the Musical Arts. Introduced to the world of music by his cousin, world class bassist, Andre’ Berry "The Bass Ninja" of North Hollywood, California; Jeremiah began his extensive journey at the young age of eight years old. Beginning his training with the Bass guitar, Jeremiah soon transitioned to his present day love, the Piano. Now on his way, his music teacher, Ms. Betty Lockhart, instilled a strong sense of commitment to this gift. He studied with her all the way into early adolescence.
Continuing to sharpen his musical abilities under the mentorship of Mr. Lafayette Carthon Jr. (Robert “R” Kelly’s music director for over 10 years), Jeremiah now broadened his musical experience in the Pentecostal-Apostolic faith base, lead by the distinguished Bishop J. Delano Ellis II. During these years of profound development, Jeremiah was exposed to such musical and gospel giants as Kirk Franklin, Donnie McClurkin and Darryl Coley.
While cultivating his rich vocal talents, Jeremiah created the “Dreamin’” LP concept. This masterful work afforded him his first record deal with industry legend and three time Grammy Award winning producer Edwin “Tony” Nicholas. Due to unforeseen circumstances, this arrangement became a great learning experience for Jeremiah. While growing in his experience, Jeremiah has written and arranged for the Levert II ”Dedication” project with Marc Gordon, Roosevelt “Blaq Rose” Griffin, and the late Sean Levert. Jeremiah is currently working on his next album concept entitled “True Consciousness”. “True Consciousness" is a diverse album grounded in sound lyrical composition with great depth. Distinguishable technical merit also sets this work apart.
Jeremiah formalized his music education at Cleveland State University in Cleveland, Ohio, with vocal and piano concentrations.
