“Charlotte Forbes is another young talent emerging from our worldwide competitions to rise to the top this month,” commented Make a Star, following Charlotte’s third online win. Indeed, this eighteen-year-old singer, songwriter and musician will never miss a beat when it comes to seizing an opportunity to get her music heard. Born and raised in Vancouver, Canada, Charlotte possesses motivation wise beyond her years. A modest girl with a glowing smile, Charlotte constantly strives to learn and advance. Growing up, she has embraced her creativity and the adventures it has sparked.
Charlotte’s keen intellect for music has carried her through years of training. She took up piano lessons at age six. Touched by the wonders of music at a young age, Charlotte also enrolled in violin lessons a year later. While she had early dreams of becoming a classical musician, it wasn’t until age eight, when she starred in the school-wide musical of Beauty and the Beast, that Charlotte realized singing was her true passion. She started writing and recording her own songs by the time she was twelve. By her sixteenth birthday, Charlotte had released her debut album, sold at Kidsbooks and local coffee shops. Her talents caught the interest of Jason Thompson, a multi-talented musician whom Charlotte soon hired as her manager. Under Jason’s guidance, Charlotte released a professional music video and an LP, a year later. Charlotte’s ambitions earned her features in local press, including G3 Magazine, Music Now Magazine, the Georgia Straight, and the Vancouver School Board. In an interview with the school board, Charlotte discussed the adventures of financing her projects. As they put it: “To hone her skills and raise money for the recording of each song, Forbes has spent many a weekend busking down on Granville Island.” In other words, her musical earnings fuel her passions further.
Charlotte recently graduated from Prince of Wales High School with a fine arts scholarship, and decided to take a gap year to focus on music. During her five years of secondary school, Charlotte had been a part of the string orchestra, senior band, and jazz band; thereupon, becoming skilled in the viola and trombone as well. Alongside, she continued to perform as a violinist, and holds a Kiwanis Music Festival scholarship for her outstanding musicality. As a singer, Charlotte is currently penning new songs with her manager Jason, while promoting her recorded material. Along with performances, such as the iShowcase Music Exhbition, and the Interior Provincial Exhibition, she eagerly participates in online marketing programs, including Fame Wizard (FW) and Music Marketing Manifesto. Norman B. Ratman –chairman of Aiplay America- came across her music through FW, noting “I like her clever yet natural lyrics that don’t seem forced. Also her melodic and repetitive hooks are excellent and her voice is very commercial. I would encourage Charlotte to keep doing what she’s doing as she is headed in a great direction.” With her fiery motivation and a strong musical background, Charlotte will indeed continue along the path towards her dreams.
