Darlene came onto the scene in 1995 with Barry White who was touring internationally with his hot new CD "The Icon Is Love", and celebrating his huge hit single "Practice What You Preach" and "Secret Garden" written by Quincy Jones. Darlene became a seasoned veteran with the double Grammy winning Barry and his orchestra touring with him for more than 7 years and doing television shows like Ally McBeal, and Arby's restaurant and Budweiser Beer commercials.
While continuing to work with Mr. White she had the opportunity to work with some of the hottest platinum, double platinum, and Grammy winning artists and producers such as vocalists Mya and Tevin Campbell, and Jon B.
She toured with Jon B and wrote and produced with him on his CD entitled "Jon B's Greatest Hits-Are U Still Down".
In 1995 she composed the music, the hook, played guitar and bass on the first single released by vocalist Tonya on Malaco's J-Town Records entitled "You Ain't Right". The single went to #35 on Billboard's R&B chart.
After a run with R&B she discovered Smooth Jazz and worked with Rick Braun, Jeff Golub, Paul Taylor, and Gerald Albright who she continued with for more than 6 years.
Darlene has been featured in magazines and newspapers, including L.A.'s Smooth Jazz News Magazine. She had a 3 page feature story in Houston Scene Magazine that included an extensive interview and photos. Then there were the two years that Fernandes Guitars gave her a full page ad in their catalog with a full length photo and her own guitar line.
She's played with orchestras consisting of more than 30 pieces, and jazz units consisting of only 4, with music ranging from easy listening to reggae...hip hop to pop...rock to jazz. From House of Blues to stadiums around the world...Essence Festivals to Summer Jams...Lillith Fairs to Cool Downs...Guitars and Saxes, and other festivals.
So you see, no matter whether you turn on the television, the radio, or your computer...whether it be theatre, concerts, or commercials...catalogs or magazines...you're more likely than not to find yourself seeing, listening to, or reading about Darlene Moreno.
