From Long Island, NY, HEAVY DUTY SUPER EGO make music to remind you that all you’ve ever had is now. Inspired by rock and folk greats like Neil Young, Flaming Lips, Wilco, and The Kinks; HEAVY DUTY SUPER EGO craft original songs with traditional elements to form a sound both familiar and fresh. Singer/guitarist Josh Morin and guitarist James Usher of Edison Glass (Credential/EMI CMG), singer Theresa Spadola and bassist Bud Spadola of Jebus, and drummer Ryan Broderick of Coalition and Ravalias were drawn together by a natural love for songwriting and live performance.
Following two EPs, the debut LP MOON LAKE offers natural melodies and heart-felt harmonies singing out strangled sentiments and stoned poems over dream-sequence drippy guitar tones and shuffle-strut polyrhythms. MOON LAKE was independently-produced and crowd-funded through Kickstarter and released as a CD and digital download on Record Store Day: April 20th, 2013.
Since 2011, HEAVY DUTY SUPER EGO has performed in NYC’s Living Room, Rockwood Music Hall, Pianos, Brooklyn’s Trash Bar, Spike Hill, Long Island’s Brickhouse Brewery, Memory Motel, Velvet Lounge, Tap & Barrel and 89 N. Music Venue among others. The band has also been invited to play Long Island’s music festival Great South Bay in July 2013 before leaving for summer tour. HEAVY DUTY SUPER EGO’s layered arrangements and mesmerizing live show are a reminder that passion is never boring. If you do what you love and you mean it, the results are likely going to be something worth experiencing. Listen to the new album MOON LAKE and find a live date near you at heavydutysuperego.com
