Music in my family has been a long tradition.... My Great Great Grandfather, Francois Mars Auguste Perrot, was not only The Bandmaster in Napoleon’s Imperial Guard but he was also the first music teacher in the public school district in Philadelphia. My Grandfather, Michael Gabriel D’Esposito, was a well know Mandolin player and composer in Italy.
My love of music goes back a long way, I tried out for chorus in high school but I never had a singing voice and I am tone deaf, so I learned the Tenor Sax. At 17 I had an accident and my vocal chords were damaged which took several years to heal. Years later my vocal chords finally healed and my voice was a little different.
I didn’t know I had a singing voice until my early 20s when I was out one night with friends and we went out for Karaoke for my first time. They finally got me up there and I passed out. They eventually got me back up and I sang Hotel California. I kept doing Karaoke every week at least once and finally in 2003 for my 30th birthday I bought my first guitar. I had a chord book my dad gave me from when he was a kid and I learned how to play basic chords and I wrote songs. I am still tone deaf but as I learned the guitar I learned how to match the vibration of my vocal chords with the vibrations of the Acoustic guitar to find the notes.
In 2004 I had another accident and I broke my back detailing a boat. I had spinal surgery and I was bedridden for almost 3 years. I had no cable or Internet so I played almost nonstop and wrote my album “My Fairy Tales Bk 1”. At this time I was living in Ft. Lauderdale Fl and was friends with Beverly Mcclellan (The Voice season 1). In 2007 I started playing the djembe (African hand drums) with her playing all over Ft. Lauderdale. Every once in awhile I would sing a song or two with her and eventually got my own shows around Ft. Lauderdale. The next 2 years I had a blast traveling and I got to play in Massachusetts, Rhode Island, New York. N. Carolina as well as Miami, South Beach, W Palm Beach and other Florida cities !
In late 2009 I moved to the west coast of Florida to the Sarasota area where my music has exploded!! I am now playing different clubs, bars and restaurants from Gulf Port to Tampa, St Petersburg, Venice, Sarasota and everywhere I can.
