Darius de Haas is a New York based award winning singer and actor whose career spans from theater to recordings to concert stages around the world. Born in Chicago, hailing from a musical family he made a name for himself in several Broadway musicals (including "Rent" and "Dreamgirls") and then debuting his Lincoln Center concerts of Billy Strayhorn music (Lush Life, Take The A Train) resulting in his critically acclaimed debut CD, "Day Dream: Variations on Strayhorn". He later debuted his very successful concert of his interpretations of Stevie Wonder's music, called "Wonder", touring around the US. His flexible tenor voice has been lauded for singing a wide range of music from jazz to pop/R & B to classic standards. He has been a staple in many New York clubs including Joe's Pub, Birdland, and the newly opened 54 Below where the NY Times wrote "Electric- a thrilling demonstration of the pop-soul tradition to which he belongs" and praising his interpretations with "ingenuous trust in total honesty". He has also sung with some of the finest orchestras at Carnegie Hall, The Kennedy Center, and London's Royal Festival Hall. He continues to act- most recently in Shakespeare's "Twelfth Night" and a critically lauded production of "Jesus Christ Superstar GOSPEL" at Atlanta's Alliance Theater.
