"..A highly evolved, adaptive beast of music, Pennyroyal puts a glam spin on the rock ‘n’ blues sound other bands are circling in on today.. An almost terrifying genius powering lead singer Angie Oase’s at once ethereal and guttural vocals, leading the charge onto the gates of musical heaven." -LB
Minneapolis' own Pennyroyal is known for the vocal styling of front-woman Angie Oase, and her harmonica duos with co-singer/songwriter Ethan Rutherford. Formed in late 2009, Pennyroyal quickly captivated audiences with their electric cross-section of music, profoundly and distinctly their own style. Displaying a myriad of influences, these two singer-songwriters- along with the unique back-line of Jake Mohan (prog-rock drummer), William Hoben (metal bassist), and newly added singer-songwriter guitarist Brian Cameron- build a collage of rock, blues, and americana; raw and moody indie-rock. However you describe them doesn't much matter, rock 'n' rollers at heart, they just bring their best music forward. After all, this band formed after a chance meeting at a Minneapolis coffee shop where Angie was covering a song handed down by friends from Seattle. Turns out the guy who wrote it happened to be walking in the door, future bandmate, Ethan Rutherford.
