David Cordeiro was born in Fortaleza, Brazil, and moved to New York in 2007. After a period of 4 years in Brasilia, Brazil, where David gained knowledge and experience from masters such as Oswaldo Amorim, Paulo Andre, and Genil Castro, and through professional opportunities on stages, recording studios, and writing for shows, DCM found a chance to move to NYC.
At The City College of New York, through a brilliant 4 and 1/2 years academic carrer in which he was granted scholarships and awards such as the BMI/Evelyn Buckstein Scholarship and the Kay Scholarship, David earned a Bachelor Degree of Fine Arts in Jazz Performance. Building his career from scratch, David, who is passionate about so many aspects of music, used every opportunity by working with a variety of music styles as a performer, composer, arranger, producer, and educator
David has worked with great artists such as Dende Macedo, Cidinho Teixeira, Sophie Acadine, Camille Newman, Nanny Assis, NYChoro, Arie Thompson, Sarah y Su Cachito, and many others in a variety of different fields. He has performed at prime Jazz Clubs in New York such as Joe's Pub, ZINC Bar, and SOBs. Aside from NYC, David has performed in different cities such as Philadelphia, Boston, Brasilia (Brazil), Fortaleza (Brazil), and Black Mountain, NC, at the LEAF Festival.
