Hey Ya'll! This is Johnny Mike. Just wanted to thank you for stopping by my little corner of musical cyberspace to check out my tunes. I'm just a farm boy, turned pulling tractor builder, turned tool and die maker, turned Engineering/History/Business/Agriculture college grad (twice), turned dad, turned husband, turned middle-aged man who has had a lifelong passion for writing songs! (Notice I didn't say "singer songwriter," lol - trust me, I'm waaaaay better at writing songs than I am singing them! ) I choose to let professionals handle most of what I consider my most potentially commercial "pitch worthy" songs. But sometimes, I have to sing some of them too because, believe it or not, there are folks out there who actually like to hear me perform them too.
So what I have been doing here is trying to cross the line from "professional amateur songwriter" to " amateur professional songwriter!" In doing so, I've been working on a "Fully Produced Songwriter Demonstration CD." Most of the songs that I share here online are songs I've been working on over the last couple decades. I plan on building a catalog of songs to share online with artists who would be interested in recording them for themselves. For those who just like what I do and like to listen to them as a "fan," then they are here for those people too. But I'm really interested in writing songs. Perhaps there is an artist out there likes what I do and would like me to collaborate on a song with him/her? I'm open to that. I do a lot of my better work by taking a song on as kind of an "assignment" like in a college homework project. Thank you for listening and I hope you like what you hear!!!
Studio and session players and singers on this project include Larry Marrs, Tony Ray Jones, Kelly Nolf, Howard Duck, Jimmy Montiac, Mitch Truetal, Grady Saxman, Kelly Back, Mark Becket, Kimberly Marrs, Al Goll, and Johnny Mike. All songs recorded at Backwoods Studio in Nashville, TN and Marrs Studio in Madison, TN. A special thanks to all these great talents who breathed life into these songs!!!
One last side note: the black 1066 International pulling tractor named "The Rattler?" Yeah, the one featured in Dustin Lynch's video "She Cranks My Tractor?" Yeah that one. I built a whoooooooole lot of that tractor while working at Full Pull Motorsports. (Maybe I'll post some pics pretty soon?) It's an irrelevant piece of information.....but at least something I did in this life made it into the the world of commercial country music. BTW, I really don't care for the song.....it is a lot of what is wrong with country music today........too much plastic and less meat in the package. (Even though the song is well written, catchy, and well performed. It just doesn't have the old -fashioned heart like traditional country music - just sayin.) But anyway, I expect that little unexpected milestone is about to be exceeded because I do have one song that is being published!!! Yaaaay! I haven't posted it here yet though......but it is coming too. It's pretty good! It is along the lines of hardcore traditional country music. It is called "Bless Her Heartless Heart." Thanks again for listening! (And reading my bio book! lol!)
