Prograss / Bio

Formed in 1997 in zurich, switzerland, Prograss was rapidly known as a monster-machine of techno metal of it's own. With the smart mixture of live played metal and on-the-edge technoid loops, the band met a broad audience right from the start: electro lovers and metal heads as well.
The 4 band members play with sheer energy, which makes the heartbeat of everyone who likes hard music go faster, accompanied by pumping loops that invite to dance. In switzerland and europe, Prograss played as supporting act for germans "Such A Surge" as well as for the U.S. band "OverKill" and at the swiss music fair. Just to name a few.

After two selfmade demos in 1997 and 1999, Prograss recorded a 4 track demo in collaboration with Tommy T. Baron (Tommy Vetterly) and Ron Royce (Roland Broder) in 2000. In 2002 Prograss recorded another promo CD, engineered by Gerhard "Anyway" Wölfle and produced by Tom Jackson at Basel City Studio, switzerland.

In 2005 Prograss appeared on the sampler "Heavy Metal Nation II" with "Spotswatch" and furthermore started to build their own little studio, where the recording sessions for the first longplayer started. This was released in 2008: "Finalize". The band has set the finishing mark behind a 10+ year period of creating and building up. Fine lyrics combined with a x-large rock sound supported by the Prograss-typical loops and groove samples. This intoxicating mixture is taking the listener to a journey into sound one never has heard before.
Impulsive, thrilling, dynamic, merciless and melancholic as well the eleven tracks are rocking the listener. Prograss have found their own unique style which is hard to defined. Or do you have a label for “Techno - Pop - Rock - Metal”? The lyrics are entertaining though being critical to state of the present time. It’s a must for every lover of music to take a listen and will surely be stirred by this special mixture of english and italian lyrics. Melodic and if necessary brutal lead and backing vocals are giving a strong statement to every song. The drums are grooving straight and tight, beeing the driving engines of each Prograss-song. The guitars are played on the cutting edge. The synthesizers and samples add characteristic attributes every here and there and give the whole sound even more colour and depth.

On sunday, november 18th 2012, our friend and drummer Mike past away much too early after long and serious disease. This was more than just a shock. We lost a good friend and funding member. As he recorded the drums for four new tracks, our mission was clear: we had to look foreward and move on.

2013: On March 24th, the first new Prograss song was released. Phenomena Style (The Human Rhythm Machine). A tribute to our drummer Mike J. Michel. On April 27th, The Edge was released. In september "So Beautiful" and, for the first time, a remix of a Prograss Tune: "So Beautiful (Remix)" were released.

2014: Prograss breaking off to new grounds.
After almost 20 years of creative work, Prograss found their own unique style. A symbiotic mixture of Metal and electronic music styles such as Techno, Dubstep, Breakbeat, Bigbeat, Psytrance and more.
Heavy, screaming guitars, dirty vocals, paired with pumping beats and out of this world synthesizers.
