With a background in creative writing and poetry, he first rocked a mic as a Hip-Hop Artist named Emcee Edge in 1999. Prior to experimenting with Hip-Hop lyrics, Edge was in a heavy-metal band screaming vocals.
Born into an artistic and musical family, Edge had an interest in vocals since the mid 80's as a kid growing up to rock music. As a teenager, Edge began taking creative writing courses in his early High School days. Heavily influenced by slam and spoken word poetry, it wasn't until the band split up that Edge was invited to try out his vocals in a Hip-Hop project. Edge and long-time friend Pete, who had drummed in the heavy-metal project, would begin to experiment with creating Hip-Hop music simply as a hobby.
Emcee Edge began performing at house parties on the Reservation and handing out demo CD’s. The local party scene soon caught on to the pair’s music and Edge’s wild performances, this is where his desire to perform was born.
After a solid two years of performing at local parties, Emcee Edge reached out to other artists around the State of Minnesota. Emcee Edge enlisted the help of his brother Chainsnap O’malley, a musician in all aspects and aspiring concert promoter. With O’malley’s help, Emcee Edge was being booked at bars and clubs throughout Minnesota before he was even old enough to legally enter those establishments as a patron. Word of mouth about the unique on-stage antics and energetic performances the duo created seemed to spread throughout the State. Emcee Edge had taken his show on the road soon after and to this date, has not turned to look back.
Emcee Edge continues to capture the attention of audiences across the United States using his now signature on-stage antics and energetic performance with the unique sounds of his music which ranges in emotions from upbeat silliness to honest anger. Whatever the tempo is, Emcee Edge will make it powerful.
