In the year 2005, Kurtis Skinner and Parker Roberts made the monumental decision to start a metal band. Under the name "Hounds of Hell," they established themselves as the best mediocre musicians at their school. Two years later in 2007, the two decided to part ways in high school and pursue their own separate ventures. Four years later in September 2011, they ran into each other while walking the campus at Western Washington University and decided to form a new band under the name "Axis of Symmetry." Their style is a progressive, spacey, atmospheric, yet straightforward and riff-centric metal sound incorporating influences from classic composers, film scores, hair metal, and video games. In April 2012, they released their first feature length album entitled "Perception is Reality" which told a three act story of a man who, after undergoing radical cosmetic surgery, travels back in time to be with the woman he loves...in space. They're currently working on their second studio album titled "Project Helix" which is a concept album dedicated to the Metroid franchise of video games, focusing on the lore behind each game. It will be released in August of 2013 accompanied by a tour of Seattle featuring Jacob Brooks on guitar and Justin Cassaday on drums.
