The two-piece band, Discount Guns, was formed in Louisville, Kentucky in late Spring of 2011. The idea was to create simple music based on the Blues/Rock influences of John Ford and Edward Vincent. A simple drum kit and reverb guitars provided the sound. That sound, then, had to be recorded.
The self-titled EP was created in the basement of a house in the Highlands neighborhood of Louisville. Using vintage equipment, Ford and Vincent recorded and produced the record themselves, as well as providing all the instrumentation and vocals.
John Ford has drifted in Texas, South Alabama and Montana. His experiences and influences of Blues and Country & Western music have led him to collect ideas and lyrics relating to his experiences in these areas and others.
Edward Vincent spent his time in Illinois before music led him to Louisville. His love for simplistic music has grown over the years. His time spent playing with John Ford sparked a new-found love for recording.
Now is the time specifically chosen by Discount Guns to release the music.
Now is the time the music needs to be heard.
