No Shelter formed in November 2010. Vocalist Jose Yuste and guitarist Jon Davis spent some time jamming together till they decided it was time to look for some other musicians to start what would soon become No Shelter. They search the old fashioned way, by word of mouth and putting up flyers everywhere they could. One of these flyers fell in the hands of former “Above Suspicion” bassist Joe Hunt,
who contacted them and also introduced them to “Remember the Passion” guitarist Frankie Mizer. Soon the four of them started to write music together while considering different drummers for their project. They faced challenges, going through six drummers during their first eighteen months as a band. The four initial members never stopped practicing, writing new material, and occasionally playing collaborated shows with people like Jeff the Chef from “Remember the Passion”, who saved them many times by filling in on the drums.
In the summer of 2012 “No Shelter” decided to once and for all find the right drummer for their sound. The band got in contact with former “As the Seasons Grey” / “Evil 10 Submission” drummer Gunsmoke Gene who had shown interest in the band’s work after seeing them perform at “Crossroads”. Soon the five started to rehearse and create new material keeping their initial ways but expanding their sound to somewhat heavier and more complex melodies under the rhythm direction of Gunsmoke.
Their first self-titled E.P was recorded and produced by Chris Blank and it was released October 27th 2012.
