Billy, shortly after moving to Ann Arbor in fall of 2005, and bored with playing guitar by himself--put an ad on craigslist for "Best String Band Ever." Kyle, then a headstrong 18, was the only one arrogant enough to answer. And thus began the first version of Wire in the Wood, formerly the Bearded Ladies. Billy and Kyle met Jordan at the inaugural Bluegrass Night at The Circus Bar in 2007. For the next 18 months, with bass and sound man genius Greg Burns on the upright, The Bearded Ladies grew Bluegrass night into the monster it now is.
But alas change is the only constant and Greg had to go on to bigger and better things (Greensky...). B, K and J floundered for years until Billy opened his eyes and saw the smooth mellow radiating from down the block. And with Ryan "Rainbrow" Shea on the bass the pieces had finally come together.
Wire In The Wood is energetic, weird, crazy, uplifting, confusing, hilarious, and awesome all wrapped in wild improvisation, unique song writing, and beautiful harmony.
