BigTen also known as SawBuck was born as Tyrone O. Lewis. BigTen was conceived by his loving Mother Janice Perry and Father Tyrone Perry. Third of seven children growing up in Chicago, IL, as a young black male he already had his work cut out for him growing up on the Southside of Chicago in the Roseland area also known as the Wild 100’s. He spent much of his child hood with dreams and aspirations set upon being a professional basketball player. In fact, Tyrone received the name BigTen from playing basketball in his neighborhood. In addition, the name SawBuck came from Chicago slang in which the number 10 is commonly used as SawBuck. BigTen spent years confused and under distress considering his father and brothers were absent, due to incarceration, during the times he needed guidance the most. With turmoil at home dividing his family, he used the negativity and chaos of the streets to create a positive atmosphere around him. In school he achieved honor roll status several times and also prevailed in athletics as well as dominating rap cyphers whenever a challenge was present. Attending Carver Military academy is where he began his amateur career. In 2005, he graduated fifteenth in his class. After receiving letters from Fcolleges to play basketball, he subsequently decided to play at Chicago State University.
Assuming that his supporting cast was not incarcerated or simply around, one can only imagine where this young man could have been in life. Although he was engaged into the college life by landing a 3.0 GPA his first semester, the streets were always in mind. He found himself on the corner and on the block more often than usual. As his grades declined, his hustle in the streets began to soar. Simultaneously, he began to polish his craft to be an elite rapper. Everyone else noticed his hard work and profound skills, especially his cousin Brandon “Maeja” Lewis. When he was freestyling to Maeja it later sparked the beginning of a new chapter. Maeja would introduce SawBuck to the art of the studio and recording. “He taught me how to make a song”, says Ten. They began working together and started entering local talent shows and performances.
By 2006, school, rap, and the block were all that consumed his time. During that summer is when he and Romey first met. It was after the Bud Billiken Back to School Parade when SawBuck did a freestyle on Romey's Chicago Takeover CD/DVD. After the camera work was finished, they immediately talked. Ten later joined the Get Rich team of Romey the Midwest King, Be Ezee, Boovelli and super producer Unit-7. By 2007, BigTen had been through multiple obstacles including problems at home, school, run-ins with the police, and gang violence but nothing was more life altering than the birth of his first son followed up by his youngest son in 2008. This would bring about change in this young man to now stand and take life much more serious. He began to write more and even found jobs, but mainly relied on hustling. He began to start his own crew while still being a member of Get Rich. Yung BiznessMen (YBM) consisting YH, Da Kid D, JP Da Truth, and DJ Boxo. As the recession took place and having two little boys and a wife it would only urge Ten to do what he had to do as a man and that’s take care of his family. In June 2010 he entered basic training for the United States Army. Now he is at Fort Stewart, GA, 3ID. Along with the birth of his new baby girl and a fresh start, he is currently working on three mixtapes and his debut album.
