Dominque Lawson, better known by his stage name Caddylac Jones, is an American hip hop artist known for his current single “Tha hold up.” His music has a smooth, relaxed sound and rhythmic lyrics with many double meanings and understatements. He expertly mixes and melts chill beats with cool, lyrical flows that make his music both relatable and enjoyable to listen to.
More than just a musical artist, Lawson is also a singer, songwriter, music producer and business man. He owns the studio Caddy Shaq and is currently establishing his own independent label called Me.D.I.A. (me deep independent artist.) “Tha hold up” has garnered over 100k hits on YoutTube and is available for purchase on iTunes. You can also find his mixtape “Welcome to the Caddy Shaq” on datpiff.com.
Born in Ponca City, Oklahoma and raised in Chattanooga, Tennessee, Dominque currently resides in San Diego where he has lived for the last 7 years. Though his music is primarily hip hop, he prefers not to be classified as a rapper. He is an artist that gained his roots from a wide variety of music, including ballads and a love for the blues. In his spare time, he often plays the guitar and piano, and his musical knowledge lays a major foundation in his work.
Lawson’s main goal in all that he does is to connect with his audience, and to create songs that they will enjoy. He has a deep desire to develop music that not only urges his listeners to get up and dance, but also touches their souls and motivates them to discover their own potential. With everything he does, he aspires to be something greater than he was before, and hopes that when others listen to his music they will be inspired to do the same.
“I’m not searching for fortunate, never searching for fame. I just hope that one day you can feel what I’m saying.” –Caddylac Jones, “Chasin’ Dreams”
