Who is 3rd of June?
The 3rd of June story starts with the story of Bassist Jesse Akins. An Iraq War Veteran who rediscovered his childhood love for playing music after returning from the explosions, stress, heat and mass graves of Iraq. He and a couple of fellow soldiers started a garage metal band that played around the Seattle/Tacoma area for the next year before the other members had to return to Iraq for a second tour. A year and half later, on June 3rd 2007 one of those members, Tyler Kritz, was killed in Thania Iraq, along with three other soldiers in Jesse's unit. Soon after, Jesse left the Army and plunged himself into the Seattle rock scene.
Two years later, Jesse moved to Hollywood and began attending the Musician’s Institute. There he worked on several projects with drummer Andrew Bilotti and through him, began working with Keyboardist Gerard Uht, who became 3rd of June’s first permanent member.
Uruguayan Guitarist Joel Rosenblatt came to 3rd of June soon after, via Gerard and his’ mutual involvement with the experimental rock project “Purposeful Porpoise”, and quickly became a powerful element in the make up of the band’s direction and sound.
Andrew Bilotti joining the lineup seems inevitable in hindsight, as he and Jesse continued to greatly enjoy the rare moments where they were able to work with one another on a gig. And the natural dynamic between them drives 3rd of June forward with a new, commanding energy.
Now, 3rd of June stands poised on the brink of 2012 with an assured agenda.
