Distinctive composer, innovative producer, gifted musician. Keith Jackson was born and bred in southern Georgia. A young prodigy, he started his musical career at age 7, taking an interest in piano and composition. Jackson fostered his talents through various mentors, playing for his local church choir, and inventing songs on his own. After his parents noticed Keith’s abilities, he began formal composition lessons at the tender age of 12 at the local university and conducted his first collegiate ensemble by 14 and was performing in a university jazz group by 15. This dedication excelled Jackson towards being honored with the Louis Armstrong Jazz Award and also granted him a full scholarship to the University of Georgia where he graduated Magnum Cum Laude in Music Composition. While at UGA, Jackson honed his jazz and classical piano technique to complement his established compositional abilities.
Keith not only excelled in the classroom, he also led independent projects and produced a plethora of up and coming talent in his home studio, during his tenure in Athens. “The Keith Jackson Project” was one particular ensemble that was featured all throughout the Athens’ music scene where Keith wrote and performed original pieces. An alternate project, “Someone Else’s Band” also made waves by winning the 2004 Battle of the bands in Atlanta as a jazz-fusion project competing in rock dominated arena. Keith further pushed the limits of music and expression by bringing sound and art together in the gallery space through a series of exhibitions with spoken word and fine art artists that following year.
In 2009, during the peak of the recession, Jackson decided to further his road towards his truest passion, composing music for films, and moved to Los Angeles. A decade after starting his own company, Jackson Productions (formally known as RPF Studios), Jackson quickly established himself on the west coast and started scoring for independent short films i.e. Girl Talk and The Woods which both went on to win awards in the film festival circuit.
His most recent work has been featured on networks such as Discovery Channel, Oxygen, BET, MTV, ESPN, and WB. Keith is currently involved in the rock group “Stateol” and an experimental group known as “The White Noise Project.” Jackson is a partner and the Creative Director for The Sync Site, an industry leading resource for directors, producers, and music supervisors. As a person, The Keith Jackson experience is unique, customized and specific to the artist and/or client. As an organization, Jackson Productions continues to develop talent, create original works, and is a pioneer in the future of music.
