Having spawned from the depths of Savannah, Ga. in 2009, Ancient Warfare's once raw two piece duo has had recent transformations since lead, Echo Wilcox, relocated homeward to Lexington, Kentucky.
The band is now influenced by members; Emily Hagihara on drums (Cheyenne Marie Mize & Chico Fellini), Rachael Yanarella on violin, Tom Hnatow on pedal steel & guitar (Mynabirds, Vandaveer, These United States), Reva Williams on bass (Gretel, banjo with Will Gray, Italian Beaches) and Echo Wilcox on lead vox and guitar. Currently the crew is in the midst of recording their first full length album with Duane Lundy of Shangri-la Productions (Dear-Companion featuring: Jim James/Daniel Martin Moore/Ben Sollee, Vandaveer..). The Pale Horse will be released in 2013 on Alias Records.
Ancient Warfare consorts with forlorn matters of the heart and resurrection combined with an incorrigible desire for promise within it. A marrying of Mark Lanegan and Chrissie Hynde, with flower toting bride's maid PJ Harvey. Drawling over ambient guitars and a pulsating timbre, Ancient Warfare imposes conviction and leaves one violated and pinning for the next inhalation. Pure and blameless, at least for now.
