Northern Shakedown is an alternative r&b group from Seattle. Two pairs of brothers who have been close friends for over 10 years. They met as teenagers at church, where each of them spent years playing in the worship team. While their individual tastes in music differ, major influences include Incubus, J. Cole, Kings Of Leon and Drake.
The band was formed in 2011. In early 2012 they released their first single, “Through the Night”, recorded and mixed at One Shot Studio in Woodinville, WA. Then in June the band released “Rural Nyce EP”, engineered by Justin Davis at London Bridge Studio. Their sound began to shift in 2013 as Solomon’s brother, Jabreel, began working with the band that summer. Having grown up with Solomon, Ben, and Tyler, it was only natural for him to join after Wesley’s departure earlier that year.
The next release wasn’t until early 2014. A single titled “Soda”. Almost two years since the last record, it was the first to be written with Jabreel, revealing the unique hip-hop element that his addition brought to Northern Shakedown. “Supertramp” was released soon after, revisiting the indie/blues/rock of previous years.
They are currently preparing to release some new music, as well as various live performances, the production of NS merch, and much more.
