Northern Shakedown is a band from Seattle that blends influences ranging from R&B and Classic Rock to Hip-Hop and Post-Rock. The group is comprised of two pairs of brothers that have been close friends for over 10 years. The four of them met through church where each of them spent some time playing for the worship team and improving their musical abilities.
In 2011, Northern Shakedown was formed by Tyler, Ben, Solomon, and guitarist Matthew Reidt. Matthew left shortly after to join another project and was replaced by guitarist Wesley Wood who was a high school friend of Tyler’s. In 2012 the band released a single, “Through the Night”, which was recorded and engineered by Dylan Fant at 1 Shot Studio in Woodinville, WA. Their debut cd, “Rural Nyce EP”, recorded and engineered by Justin Davis at London Bridge Studios in Shoreline, WA, was released later that year.
The next year brought many changes for NS. They began to change musical direction and added Solomon’s brother, Jabreel “Versigh” Stewart, to the group after Wesley left in 2013. Versigh had already begun a musical journey of his own as a hip-hop artist. His influence and talent added a fresh and unique touch to Northern Shakedown. The rest of the year was spent writing new music and refining the band’s sound.
