Currently residing in North Carolina, J!Rodgers ventures into one of the many genres of music that holds a place in his heart. Hip Hop. “I feel like there’s a lot that I could contribute content wise and on the creative side as far as production. I’ve done music since I was born, I mean I literally started playing drums at the age of two and started playing in church at 5 years old, later on at about 13/14 years old I picked up the electric guitar and bass guitar.” Needless to say, music runs deep in the veins of the young artist. “I started producing my senior year of high school and fell in love with it. The thing was I didn’t know what to do with my beats because I was too scared to send them out to other artists because my sound was different than what I was hearing around me, so I was like “You know what, I’ll just rap on them myself.” So after that I discovered a passion for writing songs, I always wrote stuff here and there during my high school years whenever I had a creative spark, but never took it too serious until now.” As a result of him honing his production and writing skills, J!Rodgers has found his niche in the music industry. “Not only is my sound different, but I’m speaking from a worldview that isn’t really spoken from in mainstream hip hop, I mean I talk about God a LOT haha, and through my music I try to give a mental picture of where I’m at to the listener so that they’re able to understand where I’m coming from and enjoy it, even if they don’t necessarily agree with it.” While very new to the hip hop scene, J!Rodgers plans to camp out for a while.
