The Heckhounds are a roots ensemble who are influenced by all aspects of American music. We primarily play original music that is steeped in the blues, but has elements of rock, folk, country and jazz. Our music is very engaging on a listening level yet highly danceable.
We have been playing around Central Vermont for the past 5 years, first as a stripped down hopped up acoustic blues outfit and later as a larger more dynamic, musically complex group with the addition of bass and keyboards. The Heckhounds have self-released two studio cds as a trio to very positive reviews and are currently working on a third live cd with the entire band that showcases our live show.
Our band consists of Hal Mayforth on lead guitar, slide guitar, and vocals, Michael Murdock on rhythm guitar and blues harp and vocals, Dave Mayette on fretless electric and upright bass, Dan Romeo on piano and organ and Kevin Morrison on drums and percussion.
We have been playing steadily for the past several years at venues like The Langdon Street Café, The Black Door, On the Rise Bakery, The Bee’s Knees, Charlie-O’s, The Purple Moon Cafe and Nectars, as well as for benefits for the ReStore, Food Works at Two Rivers Center and The Hubbard Park Tower.
