"Let's get together and see what happens" is simply how it started. All My Heroes Are Dead is a project born of the desire to make honest music.
Although the band is new, all the members were not strangers. Jon Huffman and Jim Quiggins have known each other for years and played together in several projects including landing a major label deal while working together in the band Sweet F.A.
After a few years of working on separate projects, in 2010 Jon asked Jim to play bass on a blues project with some other Louisville musicians. Joe Walden, formerly the drummer for The Black Mollys, also came to be involved with the blues project and immediately hit it off with Jon and Jim.
All three veteran musicians developed a collective desire to create something different and they started writing songs together with a 3-hour session at Guitar Center Studios on June 28th, 2011. After 6 months of slow but promising progress with the singer originally selected for the project, Jon, Jim and Joe decided to go another direction and try to find another singer.
Jacob Logsdon, singer and guitarist for the Louisville band Super 69, walked in to rehearsal January 24th, 2012 with a stack of lyrics written from emailed demos and then proceeded to co-create a new composition with the band on the spot. Needless to say, Jacob was the missing link needed for the project.
Currently the band is tracking songs to put together a collection for limited digital distribution and perhaps CD release in the near future.
