Drawing from many diverse influences, Mitya’s songs are noisy rockers loaded with post-punk energy and melodic pop hooks. Mitya’s experiments with style vary from song to song, some paying heed to shoegaze classics and others reckoning back to the heyday of psychadelia.
The four members of Mitya came together in the summer of 2008 out of a shared love of music. Unsure at first how well they would be able to blend such a wide range of influences, Mitya soon developed their own sound that tapped into Dan’s love of punk, Chad’s hard rock tendencies, Brent’s indie experimentation, and Chris’s psychedelic adventurism.
Mitya has been gigging around Denver since early 2009. In August of that year, the members took advantage of a period of unemployment to set up a three-state tour of the Great Plains.
Constantly writing new material, Mitya has recorded two EPs and one full-length album. They are currently beginning to write their next set of songs that will be performed live this summer.
