J Wesson is a Hip Hop rapper born and raised in the Flatbush section of Brooklyn, NY. Born Jeffrey Guillaume in 1987, he began rapping at the age of 13 and went on to work with fellow local acts around the neighborhood, where he was given the rap moniker J Wesson by close friends who encouraged him to take rap more seriously outside of block ciphers and freestyle battles. He earned his stripes as one of the most lyrically-gifted and socially insightful rappers in the area, making music known for it's balance of positivity, dark semi-autobiographical content, and raw emotion by entertaining crowds at open mic events and talent showcases, often remixing popular old school rap records such as Ice Cube's "Today Was a Good Day" with uncanny ability. Soon after graduating and receiving his Associates Degree in Exercise Science, he released his debut mixtape "Work Before Glory" in 2012 hosted by DJ Smoke on various online music sites and has since been working diligently on his second project. He cites hip hop artists such as Nas, Big L, Rakim, and fellow Brooklynite Notorious B.I.G. as his biggest influences.
Being able to understand a hip hop fan's mentality has given him a rhyming capability that most fans would argue is a direct result of Wes being born in the 80's and growing up in the 90's, rap's golden era. His music holds the evidence.
