In September of 1991 as Shaun Kirby was watching MTV, Nirvana’s video “Smells Like Teen Spirit” premiered for the very first time. As Shaun watched this dramatic change in the history of American rock n’ roll, he knew he had to become a drummer. Especially after seeing Dave Grohl perform. He practiced religiously for several years then moved further towards his dream by starting a rock band with two close musician friends. After playing together for a while and cycling through a few different members, Kirby and his buddies formed the band “Further Down.” This band played everywhere that they could and went on to record and release four albums independently. Further Down performed with bands such as Foghat, Mountain, Warrant, Motley Crue, Poison, Seether, Trapt, Our lady Peace, Clutch, Stroke 9, and a few more. Further Down broke up in 2007 due to personal differences.
At age twelve Scott Thorn was watching the Beatles perform live on TV. At that precise moment, Scott knew he was destined to a career in music. He learned how to play the guitar then the bass. He continued to play throughout high school and college where he met Shaun Kirby. Both had the same keen desire to succeed and thus quickly formed a common bond. Together they formed Delay the Day and later Burning Waco.
Josh Neeley was raised on classic 50's and 60's music (CCR, the Beatles and many other greats). He admired them foremost because they remained true to their original music. This led Josh to pursue his own original music. Since then, music has been a significant part of Josh's life. He learned to play the guitar at age twelve, joined the high school choir and took piano lessons. Now, music is his life.
Chris Earnhart was thirteen when his father first put a guitar in his hands. Although he was hopeful his son would be interested in music, he had no idea it would become Chris’ life’s ambition taking him on a musical journey of his own. Captivated by the playing styles of Jimi Hendrix, Jimmy Page (Led Zepplin) and Robert Fripp (King Crimson), Chris was driven to search for his own unique guitar voice. His previous experience included performing in the prog/rock group “Rukus” which gave him the freedom to explore Avant-Garde playing styles. Eventually, he left Rukus to join forces with Burning Waco.
