Birch Street has quickly become one of Colorado’s most celebrated up-and-coming acts, and are poised to follow in the footsteps of the many recent local Colorado acts to take their talents to a national audience. But behind their rapid ascent lies a tight-knit quintet of long time friends with their own unique flavor of rock and roll blended with dirty blues and country soul. Their meaningful lyrics and musicianship evoke and transform the traditions of these genres in such a way that is celebrated by traditionalists and modern appreciators alike.
Birch Street has roots not unlike most bands, with high school friends Jake Langenhorst (vocals/rhythm guitar) and Chad Macht (bass) wanting to form their own band. In 2011, the duo were referred to Cooper Leith (drums) by a mutual musical teacher, with Andy Burns (lead guitar) and Sheldon Slater (piano/keyboards) joining soon after leaving another project they were in together. The natural chemistry the band found together allows them to write as a collective, with each member bringing something unique to each song. Though the final product is an unmistakably Southern-Rock sound, it is the individual influences of each member that gives Birch Street a universal appeal to audiences with elements of Country, Pop, Metal, Classic Rock, and Jazz being found in all of their songs.
With their debut studio LP set to be released on April 3, 2014, Birch Street has their sights on supporting the album’s release with national touring and a strong marketing campaign behind the album’s 2nd single, “Mud”. Named an “Artist To Watch In 2014” by Colorado music magazine Colorado Music Buzz, Birch Street is sure to live up to the expectations the band, their management, and the local media has for them.
