It all started at the age of 14 when Illicit developed his love and desire for hip-hop music. After hearing a local rap group on a friend's CD player, he began to jot down random rhymes which, at the time, meant nothing. Little did he know that he was on his way to something bigger than just simple lines in a notebook.
After recording his first song in 2004, "Verbal Harassment", he began working on his demo CD, "Under Oath". The 6 track demo was produced by local hip-hop artist Jake Rockwell and it acted as somewhat of a preview for this young artist.
At the age of 19, Illicit joined together with Jeremiah the Dreamer and formed the rap group Double Flawless. The two performed at numerous venues around Muskegon and also performed at Summer Celebration two years in a row. At the same time, Illicit recorded his first full length solo CD entitled "When Addicition Sets In" and circulated over 100 copies locally using blank CDs and jewel cases.
In 2008, Illicit turned things up a notch by releasing his second CD, "Underestimated", which featured 15 tracks, 4 of which were remixes. It seemed as though he was on the verge of something great.
And then it stopped. No more mixtapes. Just random songs every now and then.
Four years later, Illicit is back and better than ever with his newest mixtape, "Self Explanatory". His passion for hip-hop has returned ten-fold and you can hear true emotion in every song.
Aside from his CDs, he has recorded well over 50 songs that are currently unreleased. He is constantly working to improve his skills and to bring new music to the masses.
