The Van Dril Quintet has been performing together for over three years as a self directed combo. Each musician was a member of Naperville North High School’s top Jazz Ensemble, directed under Dan Moore. The Quintet has performed at Millennium Park, the Naperville Jazz Festival, and many private events in the Chicago area. As they journey through their college careers they continue to make music with each other.
Sean Van Dril has studied piano under Frank Caruso for the past year. Sean attended Birch Creek Jazz II and studied under Reggie Thomas in 2010 and was accepted back this summer.
Adam Quetsch has been playing bass for over five years. Representing Lisle, Illinois, Adam loves music and is also part of local ska band Brodak Moments. Paul McCartney is one of his greatest inspiration and influences.
Grant Taylor has been playing on temple-ware bowls with pencils since he was a little kid. He then seriously took on the idea of percussion in 4th grade and started taking private lessons at the age of 11 years old. Now at the age of 17, he performs with the Naperville North Percussion Ensemble, the Taylormade Septet, and other various projects.
Austin Simon has been playing trombone for 10 years. He studied under Ron Keller, Philip Brown, and currently studies with M. Dee Stewart. He actively plays in the Naperville Municipal Band and is currently attending Indiana University's Jacobs School of Music.
Jenna Przybysz has studied saxophone for five years, classical under Kevin Flanagan and jazz under Alex Beltran. She attended NIU summer camp (2008, 2009), was lead alto in Youth Jazz Ensemble of Du Page, and attended Birch Creek Jazz Session I (2010) where she studied under John Wojciechowski and Mark Lee and was accepted back this summer. She currently studies under Mark Colby at Depaul University.
