“If Dave Matthews, Joni Mitchell, and Tracy Chapman had a musical lovechild her name would be Tiffany Marchi." A critic’s quip pretty much nails the description of this singer/songwriter and acoustic guitarist. Singing with the passion of a gospel chorus on Judgment Day, Tiffany Marchi wails and whispers leaving audience members humming tunes they’ve only heard once. This native of Canton, Ohio combines elements of jazz, acoustic rock, blues, and even, world music all while maintaining Top 40 appeal. Perhaps that’s because Tiffany has had some experience with the pop circuit. On season two of American Idol, TIffany finished as one of the top auditioners in New York City. Her performance landed her on Entertainment Tonight, Access Hollywood, and commercials for the show itself. She was nineteen. At twenty-six, Tiffany has matured and this sampling of her original music marks her progress as a vocalist, writer, and guitarist. Her lyrics speak of love, life, sex, God, and pain---all in a poetic style that’s simultaneously unpretentious and succinct. Her use of percussive, acoustic guitar riffs and seamless integration of rock organ, flute, and violin ground her soaring melodies. And the sweat on her brow that’s visible from the stage at her live performances proves she’s not afraid to get down and dirty with intensity, even though she’s a woman. Working with producer Kevin DiSimone, who holds multiple gold records for his own music career, and getting vocal consultation from recording artist Hillary James, Tiffany Marchi’s new demo offers a look into the musical soul of this developing artist. Overall, Tiffany Marchi “ties together an eclectic yet unified sound with soulful vocals, accessible lyric poetry, and kick ass music."
