KARTIKEYA is a Russian/Serbian/Canadian international act, which plays ethnic extreme metal with epic atmosphere, brutal riffs, blast-beats and fierce growls meshed with mantras, authentic instruments and Indian mythology.
In 2007 Musica Production released the band's debut album "The Battle Begins" which met critical acclaim from various zines and founded a strong fan-base in Russia.
After four long years of hard work, on April 8th, 2011 the second album 'Mahayuga' was released via Grailight Productions. "Mahayuga" confirmed the band's status of one of the most original and innovative heavy bands in Russia and unleashed a new whirlwind of extreme metal, middle eastern music and Hindu traditions on the international metal community. Another interesting surprise was the appearance of Kathir (Rudra) and Marina (Ambehr) as guest vocalists on the record.
Later Kartikeya stepped on the next level with their new singles 'Durga Puja' (2012, mixed and mastered by Logan Mader), 'The Horrors Of Home' (2012, feat. Keith Merrow (Demisery) and Aleksandra Radosavljevic (Above The Earth, ex-Destiny Potato)) and their first official music video for "Tunnels Of Naraka" (2013, feat. David Maxim Micic (Destiny Potato)).
In 2013 the band played their first international shows at UK Tech Metal Fest (UK) and Euroblast (Germany), recruited Chela Rhea (ex-Coal Chamber, VII, Censura) as 2-nd guitarist/back vocalist and started recording their 3-rd album "Samudra".
"I think what Kartikeya does with international blends of ethnic orchestral instruments and percussion mixed bludgeoning metal guitar riffs is amazing. I'm looking forward to working more with the band." - Logan Mader
