An ever-evolving Sacramento based band formed in 2001 by singer and songwriter/"long time scenester," Brian Ballentine and drummer/producer, Troy Kimura (aka sober), both of who had previously played together in The Little Lost Monkeys. Mick Stevenson, who also played in Brian Ballentine and Friends, brought his southern fried grits to the table when he showed up with his banjo, guitars, and mandolin and joined in 2002. Fiddle player Nikelle Gessner of Humboldt's Zombie Core Allegiance, was adopted in 2003. Rachel Fowler's vocal presence became a regular affair in early 2004, spicing things up with her feminine flair and soul. In 2007 the band went a different direction, Ballentine kept the band going by getting Mick Stevenson's metal band San Sobriety to back Nevada Backwards. Since then Brian moved to Seattle in 2010 with his other band Blvd Park but still gets together a few times a year with NB around the Northern California area.
