Robert Kuchinov aka Kuch, born in Phila Pa to a Mongolian father and a Puerto Rican Mother. Music was my escape early and I got into it big time.
I grew up listening to WFIL Phila. Pa. Rock, Soul and R&B. The Beatles were the first band I used to play air instruments to, guitar being the best in fact later in High School I won I believe to be the first ever air guitar contest which unofficially makes me 'The Godfather of Air Guitar'. WMMR sponsored the event and I won a beautiful tobacco sunburst Fender Strat given to me by Robin Trower. I no longer have the guitar.
In high school I was in a cover band called Ash, we played AC/DC, Pistols, Stones, Zeppelin, The Knack, Sabbath, etc.
I moved to the SFV in LA 1982, there I listened to KROQ and Rodney on the Rock and got hip to PIL, Smiths, Siouxsie, Black Flag, Circle Jerks, Dead Kennedys, etc. I started my first orig band called The Skullmates.
I immigrated to NYC in 1990, played around town with various punk, rock, cover and original bands till I created, 'Bedpan'. In 1996, 'World Gone Mad', a 5 song EP was released on my Indie label called, 'Earspace Records'.
In 1997, I took an 8 yr hiatus from performing. After getting back "into it" in 2005, I soon co-founded a band called RewBee. RewBee was a female fronted band and in 07 and 08 we toured with the 'Girls Rock, Girls Rule Tour' with other bands in and along the North East United States.
In 2008, I formed 'The Dead Ramones'. The DR's were a tribute to all my favorite punk rock bands and songs, along with fellow punk rock aficionados , Frank Coleman aka 'Frankenberry' and Pete O'Connell aka 'Mr. Giggles', we ripped through sets performing songs from, The DK's, Fear, The Dickies, The Damned, Pistols, etc.
Nobody in NY cept for 'Otto's' would let us play so after a few gigs here and there I ended it and decided to create The Klones. The Klones were a Live Rock Karaoke/Cover band, with the help of my DR mates and the irrepressible Ms. Julie Van Loan on lead vocals/MC, The Klones performed occasionally around town and for parties and private events.
For those that may remember or know of Jayne County, along with Frankenberry he and I on occasionally also performed in her/his backup back called, 'The Warholes' every blue moon or so.
Not long after I met a poet through Craigslist named Leroy Kangelee who wrote a play called. 'Gentrified Minds'. He needed a punk band and someone to help write some music to his poems for an upcoming debut. I co wrote 3 songs and performed them along with my fellow DR mates with Leroy at the opening of 'Gentrified Minds' April 2011. The show was a success.
2011 - I recorded with Russell Hubley a couple to few new songs, 'Elevator', 'When the Planets Line up' and enjoyed working with him on a short lived original project entitled, 'The Freak Radars'.
4/29/14 - 6/5/2014 - Lead Guitarist for NYC Punk Band 'Sewage'. A long lost friend requested that I play guitar for an upcoming show and I did. After performing a few more shows and a couple months later it was time for me to get back to my projects and tasks at hand. I had a great time in Sewage while I was part of it. For those that love old skool 70's/80's punk rock, go check em out.
6/9/2014 Presently open and available for exceptionally talented and fun musical opportunities. Bring it on!
