Steven is a multi-instrumentalist, audio engineer, and music producer.
He first started playing drums at 10 years old. Fortunately, he had older brothers who were musicians so music was always being listened to or performed in his home.
Being so much younger than his brothers was a great advantage for it forced him to have to perform at a higher level than his age. "It was always funny for me to watch older high school kids come over to audition for my brothers band and then watching their faces when my brother and his friends would say that I should show them how to play it right"
Steven absorbed everything he could at that early age, which also sparked his interest in audio engineering. Being around the band, he became the bands tech, learning how to mix, set up gear, tech guitars, all before 15!
That eventually lead to him attending Full Sail Center for the Recording arts only 2 weeks after graduating high school.
"My "early" training, teching my brothers band, helped me excel while in school for then I was already ahead of the learning curve as well as I already new the golden rule in the studio. Shut up and pay attention!"
After graduating from Full Sail in 1991, Steve has enjoy a fast paced career in just about every live and studio enviornment possible, from concert production & tourning, studio recording and producing, theater performance and production, corporate business functions, meetings, tradeshows, you name it.
"In this business, its about diversity! No one thing will be your path to success. Its a series of things that may not seem connected but if you stay focused yet flexible, you will achieve your goals!"
Steven now enjoy passing the torch to the next generation. He enjoys teaching Brass & Woodwinds to grade school students, teaching drums, percussion, and guitar to private students, and taking on high school student interns at his facility, Kelly Percussive Arts, LLC.
And if that's not a full enough plate, Steve performs and manages the county/rock band "The Inside Drivers".
"I always like to take on challenges. The more you push yourself, the more you find out what you are really made of!"
