Alison Jones is a NYC bassist/singer/songwriter who regularly performs live at top NYC clubs. In demand as a session player, recently Alison performed all of the bass and backing vocal tracks on the critically acclaimed 2012 Spanking Charlene release, "Where Are The Freaks" (Wicked Cool Records)--produced by Steven Van Zandt and Eric "Roscoe" Ambel. That album also features two tracks mastered by peerless studio icon, Bob Clearmountain. Other releases include Yowza's smash debut "In My Head"--produced by Jimi K. Bones and Brian McGee.
Miss Jones loves "the road," and toured Japan and the US (opening for Duran Duran) with the Mike Chapman-produced Erin Evermore band--a life-changing experience which put her on the "map" and began her professional career. Alison also taught bass and performed live in the U.K. on a mini-tour with The Mike Tait Band, along with Phil Cimino and Jimi K. Bones. She also has done extensive U.S. touring with Eric Ambel and the Roscoe Trio, Spanking Charlene, and Chip Robinson.
A self-taught musician, Alison originally hails from a theatrical and creative-writing background, having graduated with honors from Houston, Texas's High School for Performing and Visual Arts as a dance major with a minor in creative writing. She also studied dance at Barnard College, Columbia University and in the Fine Arts Program at S.U.N.Y College at Purchase. As a dancer, Alison launched a modern dance series at NYC's famed Knitting Factory; and in 2005, Alison performed several roles as an actor & dancer in a touring production of the musical, "Gypsy," starring Broadway's original "Annie," Andrea McArdle.
While performing and recording remain two of Alison's greatest passions, songwriting has become the main focus for her in the past year. Stay tuned for updates regarding Alison Jones's in-the-works debut EP from Magicsong Productions and Rocketeria Records, produced by Elisa Hale and Nina Tolins.
