Alison Jones is a NYC bassist/singer/songwriter who regularly performs live at top NYC clubs. Currently, Alison is in the studio working on tracks for her upcoming solo debut EP for Magicsong Productions and Rocketeria Records, produced by Elisa Hale and co-produced by Nina Tolins.
Previous releases include the 2012 critically acclaimed Spanking Charlene album, WHERE ARE THE FREAKS, on which Alison played all of the bass tracks and sang all of the female backing vocal tracks, including two singles produced & arranged by legendary Bruce Springsteen guitarist/musical director, Little Steven Van Zandt & mastered by Bob Clearmountain, as well as on the full album, produced by Eric "Roscoe" Ambel. As a bassist, Alison has also recorded with Brian McGee (The Rolling Stones, Monday Night Football, Cyndi Lauper, among many others) and Jimi K. Bones (Enrique Iglesias, Joan Jett, Blondie, Monday Night Football, JonesBones Band), among others. As a live performer, Alison has also made a name for herself as the regular bassist and/or background singer for Nina Tolins (2005-present), Eric Ambel and the Roscoe Trio (since 2006), Mike Tait (house band at the Red Lion from 2001-2011), The Voyeurs, and the Mike Chapman-produced Erin Evermore. A lover of travel and "road gigs," ss a bassist & back-up singer, Alison has enjoyed touring the US and Japan opening for Duran Duran with Erin Evermore, & has taught bass and performed live in the U.K. with The Mike Tait Band. She also has done extensive U.S. touring with Spanking Charlene.
A self-taught musician, Alison originally hails from a theatrical and creative-writing background, having graduated with honors from Houston, Texas's High School for Performing and Visual Arts as a dance major with a minor in creative writing. She also studied dance at Barnard College, Columbia University and in the Fine Arts Program at S.U.N.Y College at Purchase. As a dancer, Alison launched a modern dance series at NYC's famed Knitting Factory; and in 2005, Alison performed several roles as an actor & dancer in a touring production of the musical, "Gypsy," starring Broadway's original "Annie," Andrea McArdle.
