Based in Jacksonville, Florida, the acoustic duo Road Less Traveled merges the unique talents of two life-long musicians with different backgrounds. Singer-songwriter Jeff brings strong experience on guitar, mandolin and vocals with an interest in flat and finger picking and improvisational collaborations. Anne delivers flexibility and versatility on flutes, vocals and songwriting of her own with time spent in classical, Celtic and folk genres. They came together through mutual friends to find complementary skills and an electric musical connection. Together, their style is multidimensional based in folk with a fusion of influences from their varied histories. Jeff and Anne seem to embody musicality and harmonic blend combined with a fresh energetic approach that is nothing short of contagious. Working as a team since spring of 2011, they have made an impact on the local music scene setting a welcome standard in performance.
"You have a magical mix." -Judy C. 8/21/11
Road Less Traveled plays a variety of covers, originals and instrumentals. Drawing inspiration from multiple sources, their sound is an unusual blend. They medley two Celtic instrumentals with "Dear Prudence" (Beatles) in the Celtic-Beatles Sandwich. "Brother's Keeper" (Original) has a story with a mystery ending and includes a civil war style death march on the fife. "Summertime" (Gershwin) is polytonal - in 2 different keys simultaneously. An instrumental powerhouse, the "Tull Medley" features 7 Tull tunes plus J.S. Bach (that's where Bourree came from) navigating 6 keys and 4 meters. Ready to put their own twist on whatever captures their imagination, it's a bit like Paul Simon and CSN meets Celtic Women and Jethro Tull with a bit of bluegrass for good measure.
"I'd never heard a million dollar sound from a penny whistle before." -Fred G. 2/17/12
Road Less Traveled is available to perform for house concerts, private parties, corporate events and more. For wedding ceremonies, Jeff and Anne have extensive resources beyond the regular song list including solos and duets in many different styles, including traditional classical wedding music. In October 2012, they wrote a wedding song entitled "Promise" designed for wedding ceremonies. More information about booking your event can be found on the events page.
