Together since late 2008, Figure 8 is a 3-piece rock band reigning from Hudson, New Hampshire. The band came together in early winter when Chase Clark and Eric Dupont met during their freshman year in high school and decided to start a band together with Chase on guitar and lead vocals, Eric on drums/percussion and back-up vocals, and Eric's younger brother Vince on back-up vocals, electric bass guitar, and double bass.
Since then, Chase, (18 years old) Eric, (18 years old) and Vince (16 years old) have played a number of shows, parties, battles, benefits, and festivals across southern New Hampshire and northern Massachusetts, including Hudson, Manchester, Merrimack, Nashua, Suncook, Billerica, Lowell, Rochester, and Tyngsboro.
In the past couple of years, Figure 8 took first place at the First Annual K Rocks Battle of the Bands at St. Anselm’s College in Manchester, NH and appeared on PFG Scorch TV as a result; they also won the Teen Band Competition at the Rotary Rock’n Ribfest in Merrimack, NH. For taking first place at the Ribfest, Figure 8 then had the amazing opportunity to open up for the legendary James Montgomery Band the day after the competition. Most recently, the band came back to the Ribfest in June to protect their title as the first place winners for the second year in a row!
Although Chase and Eric graduated in June, each band mate was a member of the audition-only jazz band at their high school located in Hudson that toured Germany and Austria in February 2012 with Chase on rhythm guitar, Eric on trap set, and Vince on double bass. They were also all members of their school's marching and wind symphonic bands and they each play with a number of various ensembles while taking private lessons, influencing them with numerous styles of music. Last year, Chase placed first for guitar in NHMEA's Jazz All-State while Eric placed second on drums; Vince also played in NHMEA's Classical All-State Festival for string bass.
Figure 8 released a self-titled demo in early June that included a number of musicians from their school (Steve Caporale, Paige Devlin, Alex Luebbers, Matt Sidilau) that appeared on such tracks as "Try Again" and "Song #2." The demo is for sale at all shows and the band really hopes that their hard work is appreciated!
Vince will continue to rock Alvirne High School for his senior year as Eric and Chase head off to the University of Massachusetts Lowell in the fall - Eric will pursue a Music Business degree as Chase will be studying Sound Recording Technology. With the members not too far away, the band will stick together and continue to provide the area with tasteful music and wholesome fun! Watch out for a few of the trio's appearances coming soon - they will be opening for the Los Angeles-based band, Queen Caveat, during their eastern tour this summer and they will even be performing at the Manchester Music festival in September.
Figure 8 is all about the music, and they hope you enjoy it!
