THE DEBUT ALBUM :: AVAILABLE FOR PRE-ORDER NOW EXCLUSIVELY AT iTUNES :: RELEASING WORLDWIDE MARCH 27, 2012
"I've always felt that so much of being an artist isn't about being a creator, but rather a rodeo rider."
Based on his multiple successes with daring and disparate musical projects, one can understand where Jerry Adler's perspective comes from. Whether as the songwriter, lead singer and guitarist for the critically acclaimed NYC indie-rock powerhouse The Blam, or with his folk influenced acoustic solo work under the pseudonym Flugente, Adler has continually challenged himself artistically while also challenging his audience to join him for the journey.
On the band's eponymous debut album, Adler has created a unique foundation that underpins intoxicating melodies and whip-smart lyrics. Multi-layered, looped guitar textures float and pulse above the striking, distinct drum work of the band's only other member, drummer Yuval Lion. Mixed and mastered by renowned producer Blake Morgan, the album operates on two levels like links in a chain, each song––each part and lyric, in fact––functioning both individually and as part of a greater whole.
FLUGENTE (FUL CATALOG)
Following the split of The Blam, in 2006 Adler began the solo project Flugente. Its stripped down, acoustic, lyrical torrent was a 180-degree shift from the highly charged and sonically dense The Blam. In The fall of 2011, Curb Cut released the Flugente back catalog, which will be followed soon by the brand new, and third, Flugente record Will Still Kill. Fans who saw the original Flugente solo shows will be hard pressed to imagine this evolution. The early songs––brash, honest, and austere––almost dare you to listen. Now, flush with sheer beauty, Flugente dares you to you to stop. All of the band's albums have been beautifully mastered by award winning producer Blake Morgan.
THE BLAM (FULL CATALOG)
In 2004, enjoying international exposure and acclaim, and on the heels of two full-length releases within eleven months, The Blam began work on two new albums. The first of those, Blow Wind Blow, was completed in 2005 but never released due to the untimely break-up of the group. On May 31, 2011 Curb Cut released The Blam’s terrific first two records –– The Blam (2002) and Caveat Emptor (2003) –– and on June 21, for the first time anywhere, brought you the lovely Blow Wind Blow (2011). A lovely departure for the group, it is intimate and subtly daring in the same vein as, say, Friends-era Beach Boys. While their arrangements have always been adventurous and varied, gone here for the most part are the buzz saw guitars and elevated heartbeat tempos. In their place are acoustic guitar foundations, multiple layers of backing vocals, and intimate intimations. This collection, comprised of songs written between 1996 and 2003, sounds completely undated, fresh, and new.
